The 2026 International Training Workshop on Frontiers from Quanta to Cosmos Physics (FQCP2026), organised by the International Centre for Theoretical Physics Asia-Pacific (ICTP-AP) at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, was held in Beijing from 23 August to 06 September 2026. As one of the activities of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD), the workshop aimed to provide advanced interdisciplinary training in particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology for young students from around the world, and to foster international academic exchange and collaboration.

This was the second edition of the workshop. Focusing on the theme “From Quanta to Cosmos”, the programme organised nearly twenty frontier lectures and training sessions. International students from seven countries participated. The workshop covered key topics including gravitational wave theory and detection, black hole physics, dark matter, cosmology, effective field theory, artificial intelligence and its applications in scientific research. Scholars from renowned domestic and international research institutions delivered systematic instruction ranging from theoretical principles to data analysis methods. The workshop also arranged daily discussion sessions throughout the training to encourage in-depth debate between students and lecturers on open questions at the frontier, fostering cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary intellectual exchange. As an integral part of the workshop’s agenda, all participants also attended the “2nd New Horizons for Psi workshop” held concurrently, which further broadened their academic perspectives.

On 01 September, the participants visited the Yanqihu campus of the UCAS, where they experienced the university’s development history and academic atmosphere, and deepened their understanding of UCAS’s educational model of “integration of science and education”.

ICTP‑AP will endeavour to secure further study opportunities at UCAS for outstanding international students. In the future, the Centre will continue to leverage its international platform to organise more high‑quality academic activities, expand collaborative networks, and support young scholars in enhancing their research capabilities, thereby contributing Chinese strength and Asia‑Pacific wisdom to addressing global scientific challenges and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
