To help students clarify their career directions and plan their professional paths more effectively, ICTP-AP recently launched the "Career Navigation: Alumni Talk " series. The first session, themed " Breaking Boundaries: The Many Career Paths of Physics" invited Dr. Huang Li as the keynote speaker. Huang Li received his Ph.D. from the Institute of Theoretical Physics, CAS in 2019, and worked as a postdoc at ICTP-AP from 2021 to 2023.

Drawing on his personal experiences, Huang delivered a systematic and practical presentation. He shared the unique advantages of a physics background in banking, resume and interview tips, and an insider's view of industry realities and career paths. During Q&A, he offered detailed, in-depth answers to questions that concerned students most, such as "How to overcome a lack of internship experience?", "What extra skills are needed?", and "What is bank work really like?"

The session was packed with practical takeaways. It not only strengthened students' ability to plan their academic and career paths more effectively, but also helped build a peer-support platform within ICTP-AP, fostering mutual learning and the passing of experience from senior to junior students. Moving forward, ICTP-AP will offer more diverse and career-focused events to help students secure quality employment and successfully transition from campus to the workplace.
