The signing ceremony between the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the UNESCO on the establishment of the International Centre forTheoretical Physics (Asia Pacific), a second-class UNESCO institution, at the university of Chinese Academy of Sciences will be held on May 13th  at the Diaoyutai State Guesthousen in Beijing. BAI Chun-li, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and IRINA Bokova, director-general of UNESCO, will sign the agreement on behalf of the government of the People's Republic of China and UNESCO respectively. Academician Wu Yue-liang, vice president of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Fernando Quevedo, director of the International Center for Theoretical Physics, and Cao Jing-hua, deputy director of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences will attend the ceremony.

 

During the conference, president Bai Chun-li will briefly introduce the achievements of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the scientific and technological support of "One Belt And One Road" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Over the past three years, more than 400 young people from developing countries have come to the university of the Chinese academy of sciences to study for a degree through the CAS - TWAS scholarship program. The Chinese Academy of Sciences will fully support the establishment and development of theInternational Centre forTheoretical Physics (Asia Pacific).
